The First Show in Japan(4/2/77)

The Latest Show in Japan(10/24/13)

Japan Tour

Rock And Roll Over Tour(1977)
KISS arrived in Japan on March 19 at 3:40P.M. on Pan-Am flight 801. On March 21 KISS held a press conference at Osaka Expo Hall where rehearsals would be held from the 21st to the 23rd. KISS didn't change costumes or set lists for the shows in Japan, but KISS did debut a completely new stage. The shows at Budokan were videotaped by the Japanese national TV network NHK. A 50 minute, edited version of the performances aired during an episode of "Young Music Show" in Japan and on May 7, 1977.

Alive II Tour(1978)
KISS stickers with all five of the Tokyo dates listed were given away in Japan, presumably at the venue. One of the five Budokan shows was archived on audio, although there is no way to determine which one. March 31, however, is most commonly listed as the source of the audiotape.

Crazy Nights Tour(1988)
After a 10-year absence, KISS was brought back by the promoter Mr. Udo for a well-received tour of Japan. The Japanese TV network NHK was also back on board and purchased th rights to record and broadcast the April 22 Tokyo concert. The set lists for the shows in Japan were constructed from requests submitted by KISS's Japanese fan club.

Alive 1995 Tour(1995)
A week prior to the start of the short Japanese tour, Japan had been ravaged by one of the worst earthquakes in its history. KISS recorded live versions of "Strutter" and "Rock Bottom" at a sound check before the January 30 concert in Tokyo for use on a KISS AID phone line set up to benefit victims of the earthquake.

Alive/Worldwide Tour(1997)
The January 20 concert in Nagoya, prior to "New York Groove," the audience sang "Happy Birthday" to Paul. The January 22 concert in Osaka, due to a throat infection, Gene only sang lead vocals on the first verse of "Deuce" and shared them with Paul on "God Of Thunder." Both "Calling Dr. Love" and "Watchin' You" were dropped from the set list for the night.

Farewell Tour(2001)
On September 15, 2000, KISS announced Japanese tour date for The Farewell Tour in November.however, on September 21, Udo Artists issued a statement that KISS had postponed their tour of Japan due to "scheduling circumstances." After several months of relative silence, KISS dropped a bombshell. On January 31, an announcement was made on the KISS Online that Eric Singer had rejoined KISS to complete the band's world tour.

Alive 2003 Tour(2003)
KISS and The Rolling Stones stayed at the same hotel. KISS attended the Stones-concert on March 10 at Budokan. And KISS did three concerts at Budokan and a concert at Yokohama Arena. KISS played on a what looked like cut down stage/set compared to previous tours here in Japan. There were still walls of amps at the back, stairs on both sides of the drum set, so it is probably similar to what they would have had around the Alive era. However because this hall is not too big, almost everyone would have a great view. The Japanese fans were as passionate and crazy as ever.

Rock The Nation Tour(2004)
KISS did a six-concert tour of Japan. The tour marked the return of Eric Singer on the drums who once again replaced Peter Criss whose contract was not renewed by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Ticket sales were strong in Japan.

Rising Sun Tour(2006)
The July 18 concert in Nagoya, KISS rocked Rainbow Hall, tearing through a set list which included the first ever Japanese performance of "Love 'Em and Leave 'Em" and several other classics not played on their 2004 visit to Japan, including "Black Diamond with Eric on lead vocals. On July 20 in Fukuoka, set additions were "Deuce", "Heaven's On Fire" and a rare performance of "Kissin' Time."

Monster Tour(2013)
After a 8-year absence, on June 10, 2013, KISS announced Japan's tour date for the Monster Tour in October. KISS did 4-concert tour of Japan.
The concert at Budokan on October 24 was shown on Japanese WOWOW TV.
